Astronautical engineering student will represent USC during the College Championship on the TV show “Jeopardy!”

April 28, 2007

Sarah Nothnagel, a sophomore astronautical engineering major, won a spot at the long-running TV show Jeopardy! to represent USC during College Championship to be taped on April 21 and 22, 2007. At the championship, she will compete against undergraduates from 14 other universities and colleges across the country.

Nothnagel, a Presidential Scholar, has an astonishing range of extracurricular activities: Associated Trustee & Presidential Scholars, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Society of Women Engineers, tae kwon do practices, and voluntary work at the Natural History Museum.

She was drawn to USC by the unique astronautics program at the USC Viterbi School of Engineering. “I like that it lets you build something concrete with your knowledge,” she said. “It’s all stuff that will definitely apply to any engineering jobs I have later on.”
